Item description

This Holden VN Series 2 Calais was built March 1990 and bought by myself from my employee's mother 2001. She had bought the car new from Suttons Waitara and they retain the original sale details. I had planned to keep this car and never to sell it. This very straight car has had no accidents its entire life (other than a minor car park dent at 5kph I had repaired). Since owning this car I have replaced many parts with hard-to-find New Old Stock Holden parts, such as door seals and seat belts and buckles. This car was one of a number of cars I owned and was only driven on the infrequent times my children were with me. For their entertainment (and bragging rights at school) the original V6 engine was turbo charged. I later obtained a low kilometre LS1 5.7L V8 engine and had this fitted by a licensed mechanic with a conversion kit from Castlemaine Rod Shop and a NOS GMH VS V8 crossmember. I had bought a brand new Tremec T56 6 speed manual box with Textralia double clutch, HSV pedal set, Billet Products T56 Retro 6 Speed Short Shift, full aluminium 60mm radiator and 3" mandrel bent cat back exhaust with dual 4" Ballistic stainless steel cats. Brakes were upgraded to GMH VX twin piston brakes on 330mm slotted rotors with GMH VX 1 master cylinder & braided lines. This was done under the guidance of the RMS and within legally allowed limits. The car has been registered as a V8 5700cc for more than 5 years now. After conversion the project continued and the engine was fitted with a COME Racing Bracketmaster hydraulic cam, YellaTerra lightened flywheel, 25% underdrive pulley, Wilson Fuel Rails, hi-flo Magna fuel injectors, Walbro GSS294 In-tank Fuel Pump, BBK 85mm throttle body and LS6 inlet manifold. The car then received a mafless tune on the dyno by Girch at LSX Tuning. I have also recently had fitted unbreakable Tuff Mounts engine mounts. I had a V8 LSD rebuilt and 4.11 geared on the solid axle. The suspension was replaced by a full Bilstein suspension kit with Eibach springs & Polyair rear coil adjustable airbags from Heasman Steering & Suspension. There's an onboard pneumatic pump located in boot and controlled from glovebox to avoid the rear bottoming out. The car was resprayed in two pack with antenna closed off. A rare Toyota Lexcen grill was fitted and GM ParkAssist sensors, 3M tinted windows, HSV Spacesaver spare wheel for large brakes, towbar, rooflining replaced features raised 400mm GMH logo, Rhino SMS alerting alarm with remote central locking, Uniden GPS speed sensor / alert, Level 3 White dashboard gauges, front reclining sports seats, Kenwood CD deck with 1000W 2 channel amplifier, Kenwood 6" deck speakers, Jensen tweeters, Pioneer 6.5" 250W component speakers & Pioneer 800W 12" subwoofer. The component speakers are mounted in replacement VS door pockets. Most of the original turbo gear is still inside the car and this is an option for the buyer to easily turbocharge or supercharge this V8. The turbo related gear is: Greddy turbo timer, Greddy Profec boost controller, AEM UEGO AFM gauge, Speco boost gauge, Speco oil pressure gauge, Speco water temperature gauge & Speco shift light. There is also a Sparco Tune Blue 1kG Fire Extinguisher in the cabin and underbody neon lighting, controlled by a switch under the dash.
